Excellent Commentary on the Media, Mass Shootings, and the Gun Control Debate

This is an excellent video that pretty much sums up my thoughts on the media, mass shootings, and the gun control debate. The points made by this fellow are excellent. Perhaps the NRA needs to use this guy as their official spokesperson. He is far more eloquent and persuasive than the irritating, clueless lunkheads who believe the most efficacious way to present the pro-gun argument is to invoke the security of President Obama’s children.

I have always been against the promotion and lionization of criminals who commit mass murder. These worthless criminals should not be incessantly talked about to the point that their names become etched into the memories of anyone who watches cable news. That notwithstanding, criminologists and criminal justice practitioners need to devote time to studying these criminals, inasmuch as conducting scholarly examinations of these offenders is beneficial to society. Again, these should be scholarly examinations conducted by people who actually study criminology and criminal justice. Shouting matches featuring cantankerous, unlettered “pundits,” who pretend to be experts on every topic that finds it way into the news, contribute next to nothing to society.

It is also great that the fellow in this video is black. It is one more example of the fact that black people are not all liberal lemmings. In fact, most blacks are philosophically conservative, but they just despise everything about the behavior of those on the right-wing of American politics. The principal thing that pushes blacks away from the American right is the racism that is condoned by many Republicans. If Republicans were more serious about policy issues than getting giggles from white supremacists by calling Obama a “halfrican American” and a “magic Negro,” many blacks would be Republicans. Indeed, it is Republicans’ attempts to appeal to the David Dukes of the world that make the GOP detestable to many conservative minorities. The saddest thing is that these echo chamber-loving clowns then excuse even the most heinous examples of virulent racism from the right as the mainstream media “playing the race card.” In their minds, nothing on the right can be legitimately considered racist; everything that is said to be racist on the right is really “raaaaaacism” and a “figment of the overactive imaginations of mainstream media personalities.”

As 2012 proved, minorities have become crucial to American politics. It’s either the GOP wants to win elections by appealing to ethnic minorities, or the GOP wants to titillate white supremacists with racist language. They can’t have it both ways. The GOP needs more people like the fellow in this video, and a lot less of the PatricKKK PUKEhanans. If they don’t demarcate authentic conservatism from white nationalism, many philosophically conservative minorities will continue to detest the Republican Party. And if the Republican Party doesn’t win elections, many of the conservative ideas on a whole range of issues, including the ideas articulated in this video, will never be translated into public policy.

    When George Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin – and there was a mass “Struggle Motion” for “Justice Trayvon” – YOUR PROBLEM, sir, is that you can’t bring yourself to construct the accurate model that would represent the “Yen” to the “Yang” that you have promoted above:

    1) PROMOTION – When Chicago and Philly – whose 2012 murder trajectory was ahead of the previous years at the time – DID you call this “Promotion” – or better yet “Diversions”?

    2) LIONIZATION OF CRIMINALS verses “Mau Mauism Against CLAIMS OF INJUSTICE”. If “The Right-wing” is guilty of calling out CRIMINALS because it triggers a predictable response in their base – WHAT SAY YOU about what “The Negro” does – to nullify the hijacked management and government in his own community?

    I can tell from the video above that you prefer a “cerebral” debate.
    FOR ME – it is not an issue of my “agreement” (or not) with the argument above. I just don’t believe that YOU fully appreciate the FRAUDULENT MACHINE that seeks to manipulate BLACK CONSCIOUSNESS and OPINION. They DON’T GIVE A DAMN about logic and rationalization.

    You seem to keep the “Right Wing On Trial”. I HAVE NO INCUMBENT NEED TO ‘DEFEND’ THE RIGHT or the GOP.
    MY PROBLEM WITH YOU is that your “ANALYSIS OF THE FORCES” that are bearing down upon the Black community – with the primary purposes of manipulating thought – IS ASKEW to what the real world.

    I don’t wish to “Debate you for DEBATE”.
    I gave you my OPINION that your analysis doesn’t map correctly.
    I am NOT asking you to be “Fair and Balanced”. I am asking you to be MORE ACCURATE.

    I WOULD ARGUE – in the context of the BLACK COMMUNITY – the REPUBLICAN ENEMY has been RAN OUT OF TOWN – yet the NEGRO IS STILL DYING – at a homicide victimization rate that is greater than his population ratio. WHY THEN do you focus on the REPUBLICAN and what HIS MESSAGE should be – instead of the MESSAGES that the “Negro” has bought into – but is now afraid to demand his money back?
