The Second Amendment and the Pro-Life Pretense
By Chidike Okeem
Being both pro-gun and pro-life is not inherently oxymoronic; however, it can become contradictory when people put gun rights on a higher pedestal than life itself. Nowadays, being pro-life is generally limited to believing in the right of human beings to be born; however, an authentic pro-lifer cannot just support life vis-à-vis pregnancy and childbirth. An authentic believer in the sanctity of life must also affirm the right to life of all innocent people at every stage of life. The Second Amendment is intended to protect life—not to be an endorsement of the casual extirpation of life.
